The Budget Blitz Challenge
“The price of liberty is vigilance... and a balanced
ledger.” As the galaxy grows ever more perilous, and as
enemies multiply like interest on unpaid debts, the
Super Earth High Command has instituted a Budget Blitz:
a bold new initiative that forges the might of our
military with the unyielding strength of economic
stewardship. In these trying times, resources are
finite, but our resolve is infinite. Each mission’s
outcome is no longer measured solely by enemy casualties
or territories secured — but by the credits accrued.
Victory must pay its own way.
“The strength of our democracy is built on the
sacrifices of our soldiers—and the wisdom of our
accountants. Under a Budget Blitz, every credit spent
is a vote for freedom. Every star earned is a promise
kept. Helldivers, carry the torch of liberty... but
keep an eye on the ledger.”
Complete all missions in one operation on each
difficulty, starting on difficulty 6 (Extreme) and
moving up one difficulty as you go.
Earn credits by submitting your after-mission report,
and spend credits on equipment in the shop.
Your goal is to complete a difficulty 10 (Super
Helldive) operation having earned as many credits as
possible along the way.
In order to start a mission, you must equip items in
your loadout menu (just like in-game). You must choose 4
stratagems, armor, a primary, a secondary, and a
throwable. Click on an item in your Purchased Items box
or Default Items box to equip the item. To unequip an
item, simply click on it again.
Your Default Items have unlimited uses, but your
Purchased Items have uses corresponding to how many
times you have purchased it (which you can see in the
top right corner of the item).
After each mission, press the 'Mission Complete' button
and input the number of stars you earned, the amount of
reinforcements remaining, the amount of Super Samples
extracted, and the percentage (%) of time remaining in
the mission (shown in-game at the bottom of the mission
summary screen). You will earn credits based on these
performance metrics.
In higher difficulties, even more credits can be earned
by extracting with the High-Value Item.
Press the 'Shop' button to view purchaseable items.
Click on an item to purchase it. Each time you purchase
an item the price will increase for the next time you
purchase that same item, with the exception of Super
Earth Surplus (a random item).
Prices that are on sale will have a green price tag, and
will not increase in price as much as items at full
price.
For example: If I purchased the Quasar Cannon at
full price for 25 Credits, the price for the next Quasar
Cannon will be 30 Credits.
Prices for items will change, and different items will
go on sale, after each operation completed.
If your squad fails a mission, you must start a new
operation on the difficulty that you failed to complete.
You will not lose credits, but item usage will still be
counted. Additionally, your ending score will be
negatively affected.
Press the "Mission Failed" button to reset the
operation.
Your progress is saved in your browser's local storage.
If you clear your browser's local storage, your progress
will be lost. If you want to start a new run, you may do
so by pressing the yellow "Restart" button on the right
side of the page. Your run will be saved and accessible
in the save menu.
Saved games can be loaded, downloaded, and uploaded in
the Save Data Management menu, accessible by clicking
the floppy disk button in the upper right corner. You
can also rename your save files to keep them in order.
Q: Who was this challenge made for?
A: This challenge was made for those who enjoy
challenge runs and rogue-like elements, and is
friendly to newer players and veterans alike due to
the multiple difficulty modes and ability to filter
out items from warbonds you might not have
purchased.
Q: How many squadmates do I need to run this
challenge?
A: Ideally you would run this challenge with a full
squad of participating players.
Q: What if I don't have all the warbonds?
A: Check out the Settings menu by pressing the blue
gear button. From there you can change your
difficulty and toggle on/off the warbonds.
Q: What is Super Earth Surplus again?
A: A random item. Specifically, it is a 1 in 6
chance of receiving a random primary, secondary,
throwable, stratagem, booster, or armor passive.
Q: Why is X item so cheap/expensive?
A: Every item has a base cost, plus a random number
cost added to it (the range of the random number
depends on difficulty). The random number usually
makes the item more expensive, but there is a chance
the cost can be cheaper than the base cost.
